About me

I am a dual Canadian/American citizen currently based in the United States after spending nearly 8 years living and working in Central and Eastern Europe. Feel free to explore my work, read through my bio, and then get in touch to discuss how we can collaborate on your next project.

Background and Future Goals

For over a decade I worked in the private sector of the online learning industry with a particular focus on English as a Second Language education. I gained experience working for other organizations and simultaneously launched my own private group of language coaches, of which I was a manager and learning experience developer. My clients included executives and upper management of top IT, business, and finance corporations, as well as students preparing to transition to work or studies abroad. I have also worked as an international business consultant and line editor of published academic works.

I lived for in Europe for nearly eight years, and this allowed me to have a shift in perspective both culturally and professionally. I feel that this time outside my home culture has broadened the horizons of my critical thinking and creative problem solving abilities. Those experiences have taught me how to make meaningful connections with people of various backgrounds, and the languages I picked up along the way allow me to communicate with others in a language that they are most proficient in, easing the means of communication in contexts where language differences would become barriers.

After moving back to the United States, I decided to shift my focus to higher education. I am currently a Learning Experience Designer at Indiana Wesleyan University where I create courses for online asynchronous learners at IWU-National & Global.

I have my Master's Degree in Instructional Design and Technology from Los Angeles Pacific University. Throughout the program I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge and skillset in creating coursework for both higher education and private industry contexts. During that time I was invited to be a panelist and presenter in LAPU's AI in Action Conference in April 2025.

I completed by Bachelor's Degree in Web & Digital Design which provided another medium for me to explore my creativity in digital design and draw upon my varied life experience in order to create something to share with others. In this area I apply my skillset to create art and designs in text, motion, and image forms using Adobe Creative Cloud. Creating visually captivating designs is exciting, and I love bringing concepts to life through animation and motion, as well as through graphics and photography.

Now with the introduction of AI in nearly every sector, I am a passionate advocate for meaningful integration of AI into the course development process and in assignment design. I believe that AI can enable us to take creative action by removing barriers to development and enhancing our natural skills. Instructional designers now have the ability to create chatbots and course assistants that support students in their learning journeys, Generative AI tools can be utilized in audio, video, and sound creation, and tools such as NotebookLM can be used to create content that focuses solely on the source material given by leveraging Retrieval-augmented Generation (RAG), to name just a few tools that designers now have in their toolkits.

I am looking forward to the developments of technology, including in the area of AI, and how it will continue to enable us to develop more engaging and effective student experiences. â€‹
