Book Cover - Where We Were Before

This image was designed as a book cover for a book of my own design. My book is about simple and heartfelt stories from multiple generations of people living in the Rocky Mountains, including recollections of hardship, heartbreak, and survival in the mountains. I used a classic looking font (Modern No. 20) because the contents of the book would include stories from multiple generations of people, including some traditional folk tales. I wanted the image in the background to include both a lake scene and tall mountains because both elements would be included in the stories in the book, and are quintessential parts of Canadian life. The colors are bold and saturated, reflecting the majestic landscapes and colors of the Canadian wilderness. I used various paint techniques in the image to make it look like a hand-drawn painting, and to add an element of nostalgia, almost as if this were a painting of a beloved cabin.
