Movie Poster

The brief for this project was to create a movie poster design that was superhero or science fiction themed, so I based my poster on a film theme that I imagined for this project about a time traveler attempting to stop the end of the world by traveling to the past. The scene is solemn, as the premise of the proposed film is relatively serious and contemplative, but the explosion and damaged building in the background suggests action and some kind of calamity, which may appeal to fans of sci-fi and action films. I wanted the image of the building to appear to be burning, with some burnt spots appearing in the photo of the building below the an explosion above, as if the character were in a photograph that was singed by fire. To achieve this I created a mask to allow some elements of the lower explosion image to appear through the building image in specific spots, and I changed the hue of the image to have an orange glow, as if there are other fires burning in the area.
